The Fences are a 5 piece rock and roll band who have been dominating the Glasgow music scene playing shows in stereo, firewater, King Tuts and the infamous Gig in the Goil festival, we done and quick interview with the boys to see who are "The Fences"?

• How did you guys form?

We formed when Jack asked Butler and Gabriel if they fancied being in a band knowing they’d say yes and then Gabriel asked Rowan and Brendan who he went to school with if they fancied it and they both immediately said yes.

• Who are you as a band?

Just normal Scottish lads who happen to play musical instruments and write tunes, often about being normal Scottish lads. Try not to be showy or aesthetic based and just make honest rock and roll music that we think people might enjoy.

• How did you all meet?

Gabriel and Jack worked as lifeguards while they were at school with Butlers older brother so upon meeting Butler we decided we wanted to have a stab at starting a band and Gabriel asked Rowan and Brendan from school.

• What is the process of writing new tunes?

Largely been stuff that Gabriel has written the skeleton of and brought into the studio for the rest of the band to add and remove bits of to create a full song but more recently Rowan being the musician of the band has been growing into song writing as well and bringing some really good stuff in.

• Who are your biggest inspirations?

Probably first and foremost the people who come to see us play and anyone else who has helped us get off the ground as a band. Musically it’s a good mix of the classics like Floyd, Zeppelin and The Beatles etc with the contemporary approach of AM, DMA’s and such. Big lot of confidence comes from the rest of the Glasgow scene at the moment, you just cant help but be inspired by the level of many of the bands we play with in Glasgow and from the rest of Scotland.

° Where do you see yourself in ten years?

We all sat down towards the start of our time playing together and agreed we would take it as seriously as we could and really test ourselves to see where we could end up. We’re still can’t believe we’ve got to where we’ve been, at least not as quickly, so it’s now just a case of seeing just how far we can go as apposed to a specific sort of level.

• What would be the best thing that could happen to you as a band?

Just to write and release music that people enjoy and get something out of . A situation that allowed us to perform for the rest of our working lives making enough to live from comfortably is a collective dream of the band so that would mean a lot to us as well
